Wallets for Women

Wallets for women are made in different materials and each has its advantages and disadvantages. Because of the many possibilities, it is often difficult to choose between the varieties available. An important consideration is the material out of which it is made. You do not want a wallet that will tear the lining of your purse or fall to pieces one week after you buy it.

Making a good choice is more than just a matter of cost because you can find good quality cheap wallets. Most of them are within the same price range, there is not much difference between buying a good wallet for a bit more money and buying two cheap wallets. So make only one purchase and take your time to buy something good.

Plastic is cheap but will rip or tear when it comes in contact with any sharp object you have in your purse. Fabric is good and will resist damage more than plastic. The problem with fabric is that to keep the shape of the wallet the manufacturer has put pieces of thin cardboard between its layers. It will last if you take care of it, but if for some reason it gets wet, it will become useless. It will either lose its shape or it will become stiff as a board.

Leather is the best option for you because of its durability and flexibility. The prices are reasonable, unless you want to buy a designer wallet or one made out of some exotic leather. If your leather wallet were to get wet, you would have no problem with the contents or with the leather itself because leather is water resistant. You simply have to wipe it clean and it will be back in business.

Make sure it has space and enough compartments for the items you want to carry in it. Credit card slots check book compartment, identification window, pocket for your cash and a zippered pocket for your coins. These are the basics that all women’s wallets should have. If you are one of those women who keeps her change in a separate purse then buy a wallet that has a matching coin purse. Most women who keep their change in a separate purse use the zippered pocket to put the bills in.

There are many models of wallets for women available so take your time. Again it is better to spend a little more money and buy something good and durable than something cheap.  Make sure it has space to keep all your things in a separately and in an orderly fashion. Buy something that closes tightly and needs to be opened by hand and not something that may pop open by itself. It is often recommended that the color of a new wallet be neutral or a light pastel color, you want it to match with all or most of your purses so you do not have to buy a second wallet for the remaining ones.
